Interruptions #4 Images from publication and paper given at 5-7 April 2017, the CLUE+ Research Institute hosts the conference "Critical Theory in the Humanities: Resonances of the Work of Judith Butler." at the at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Interruption #4 features stills taken from witness footage filmed in London during the riots of August 2011 are interrupted by image fragments relating to attempts at reframing the riots as a consumerist frenzy. The capture of these events through photo-theft, collage and expressive markmaking explores the way that representation is just a redaction of the messy, spontaneous performance of the everyday. These series are offered in contrast to the rheumy eyed nostalgia for historic protest movements synchronous to the foreclosure of debate around genuine activist practices within educational settings.
